Ladyhorns Come In Second In Regional Cross Country; Galvan Comes In Ninth

The Ladyhorns varsity cross country team captured second place for Class A in the Region 1 meet held Oct. 31 at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

The team came in one point behind first-place Hartley, Coach Ruby Romero said. Nazareth was third.

Individually, Katie Sweet was sixth; Lilly Ramrez, 11th; Marissa Godino, 15th; Yeiry Minjarez, 28th; Candyce Neudorf, 33rd; Abigail Rosas, 56th; and Danielle Godino, 57th.

Romero said, “The girls are young with only one junior, but they have a very strong work ethic and do whatever I ask of them without questioning me. I look forward to the state meet and the girls’ working hard to bring home a state title.”

The Longhorn team came in fifth overall, and Mark Galvan placed ninth, earning him a berth in the state tournament.

The state meet is on Friday, Nov. 7, at Round Rock. The girls run at 1:30 and the boys at 1:50.
