Teodoro P. Gutierrez, 84, of Hart passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Halfway, Texas. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, in the Colonial Funeral Home Chapel in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 10 a.m. in St. John Catholic Church in Hart with Rev. Raj Arockia, pastor, and Deacon John Niño as concelebrants. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Teodoro was born in San Antonio, Texas, on April 1, 1933, to Francisco Gutierrez and Isabel (Ponce) Gutierrez and lived there until moving to Hart in 1957 with his beloved wife, Victoria E. Gutierrez, who he married on January 25, 1953, in San Antonio. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, horse racing and fishing, but most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Teodoro is survived by four sons, Teodoro Gutierrez Jr. of Hart, Jesse Gutierrez of Abilene, Francisco Gutierrez of Germany and Rudolfo Valadez of San Antonio; seven daughters, Isabel Lara of Falfurrias, Yolanda Moran of Odem, Carmen Minjarez, Dolores Diaz and Micaela Mendoza, all of Hart, and Sylvia G. Garcia of Halfway and Connie Hinojosa of Euless; 40 grandchildren; and 81 great-grandchildren.
Teodoro is preceded in death by his wife, Victoria E. Gutierrez; parents; a son, Louis Valadez; five brothers, Hilario, Mike, Leon, Marcelino and Marcelo; a sister, Purda; two grandhildren; and one great-grandchild.
