Youth Association Formed To Teach Children Athletic Fundamentals

By Neoma Williams

Hart elementary age youth participated in a football league this summer and fall after a group of volunteer parents banded

together and formed Hart Youth Association. The parents’ efforts began in February when they  helped with youth basketball and technically became HYA In May. Their mission is to help teach elementary kids the basic fundamentals in sports and help transition them into junior high athletics. There were parents and children from Dimmitt, Plainview and Olton who were involved. Three teams, depending on ages, were formed. And, there were cheerleaders.

On Sunday, November 26, the football teams played at Dallas Cowboys AT&T Stadium. A local parent-volunteer said the younger group won two games against Groesbeck, one against Sherman and lost to Rains. The older group of kids defeated Eastland and Breckenridge, tied with Athens and lost to Bethel, Oklahoma.

The parents express their gratitude to those who help[ed make this season possible. [/private[
