Bennie R. Martinez, 91, former longtime Hart resident, died on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, in Plainview.  He had moved to the Lewisville area. A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 16, 2016, at Mulkey-Mason Funeral Home in Lewisville.

He was born on February 23, 1925, in Coleman, Texas, to Alfonso Martinez, Sr., and Maria Ramos Martinez.

He married Frances Gonzales in 1948 in Andrews, Texas. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2011. He was a member of the Catholic Church, and an avid family man. There was nothing more he liked better than to have his family around him.

He is survived by six children, Benny Martinez, jr., Eddie Martinez, Richard Martinez, Albert Martinez, Max Martinez and Anthony Martinez; 18 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Morales; and a brother, Elias Martinez.

He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Martinez.
