Betty Sanders, 89, of Hart, Texas passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, in Lubbock, Texas. Celebration of Life service was held on Saturday, January 13, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. in First Baptist Church in Hart, with Donna Lindley, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Hart, officiating. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Betty Jo Sanders was born on September 17, 1928, in Bula, Texas, to Carl Marion Tidwell and Audrey Louise (Lane) Tidwell. Betty married Dean Sanders on January 1, 1951, in Clovis, New Mexico. They resided in the Hart community since 1951. Betty will mostly be remembered as a loving wife and mother while taking care of the home. She worked for the United States Postal Service for 21 years and retired as the Postmaster. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart and she enjoyed painting, playing bridge and visiting with friends and neighbors over a good cup of coffee.
Betty is survived by two sons, Don Sanders and wife Nita of Hart and Larry Sanders and wife Loretta of San Marcos; one sister, Glenda Miller of Lubbock; and one brother, G.W. Tidwell of Eureka, California; five grandchildren, Tiffany Stavenhagen and husband Shayne of Mansfield, Trevor Sanders of San Marcos, Kelsey Buell and husband Eric of Wimberly, Ashley Doane and husband Chad of New Braunfels and Lauren Sanders of San Marcos; four great-grandchildren, Slayton, Sutton, Harlow and Slade.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Dean Sanders; two sisters; and two brothers.
