Billie Bland Evans Terry, 85, of Hart, Texas, passed away on January 29, 2015, in Olton, Texas. Funeral service was held on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Lee Street Baptist Church, Dimmitt, with Bobby Campbell officiating. Burial followed in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Billie was born on September 6, 1929, to Albert Bland and Trecie Phillips Bland in Vera, Texas. She completed school through the 11th grade, and later received her G.E.D. She married Edward (Jack) Evans on November 29, 1947, and after his death, she married James Terry on July 1, 1974, who also preceded her in death. She worked for Plains Memorial Hospital in Dimmitt for about 30 years and received the “Employee of the Year Award” in 1989. Everyone loved her coconut cream pies, and she loved to sew and made many prom dresses over the years. Most of all, she will be remembered for her honesty, the love for her family and her loyalty. A special thank you to her granddaughter, Erica Evans, for staying with her and taking care of her for several years until she went to the nursing home to live.

Billie is survived by six children: Joe Evans and Gary Evans, both of Dimmitt; Kathy Johnson and partner Craig Fuller of Dimmitt; Robert Evans, Sue Smith and husband Steve, all of Hart; and Nancy Heinson and husband Mike of Meade, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren;   eight great-great grandchildren;   and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by three brothers, Thurman Bland, Holden Bland and Henry Bland; and one sister, Dorothy Yates.
