CINDY ELAINE THERWHANGER
Cindy Elaine Therwhanger, 55, of Spring, Texas, formerly of Hart, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017, in Spring. Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hart, Texas, with Pastor Kenny Venable, her cousin, officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Cindy was born on January 23, 1962, in Plainview, Texas, to Thomas and Shirley (Venable) Brooks. She grew up in Hart and graduated from Hart High School in 1980. She then attended West Texas State University, graduating in 1984 with a B.S. degree in Social Work, and later, received her Master’s degree from the University of Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland. Cindy worked as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker which she enjoyed, and attended the Primitive Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. She enjoyed cooking, reading, collecting antiques, spending time with family, but, most of all, she enjoyed being a grandmother to her two grandchildren, Silas Wilhelm Therwhanger of Hart and Claire Elaine Barber of Lubbock.
Other survivors are her children, Lauren Elaine Barber and husband Matthew of Lubbock, Tyler Dillon Therwhanger of Spring, and Kyle Brett Therwhanger and wife Elizabeth of Hart; her father, Thomas Brooks of Hart; three sisters, Sheila Fediuk, Ronda Gilbreath and Robin Brooks, all of Eagle Nest, NM; five nephews, Austin Thomas Dudley and wife Amy of Morton, Andrew Carson Dudley of Amarillo, Dustin Gilbreath of Euless, Tanner Gilbreath of College Station and Thomas Ayden Brooks of Eagle Nest, NM; a great-nephew, Seth Lane Dudley of Morton; the father of her children, Bobby Therwhanger of Lubbock; aunts, uncles, cousins, many dear friends, co-workers and her sweet dog, Bella.
Cindy is preceded in death by her mother, Shirley Brooks, and her grandparents, Paul and Irene Brooks and Ernest and Ima Venable.
