Clarice Reed, 93, of Hart, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2015,  in Lubbock. Her funeral service was held on Wednesday,  April 15, 2015,  at 10 a.m.  in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Rev. Matt Baird, former pastor,  and Rev. Richard Harbison, pastor of Life pointe Baptist Church, Lubbock,  officiating. Family friend and former Hart neighbor,  Susan Sanders of Dimmitt, spoke at the funeral, providing humor and expressing her appreciation for being allowed to be a part of Clarice’s life. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.

Music was provided by Neoma Williams, pianist; Pat Smith, organist; and soloist, Weldon Davis.
Clarice was born on January 30, 1922,  in Sweetwater, Oklahoma. She had been a resident of Hart for 73 years before moving to Lubbock in 2013.

She married Glyn Reed on August 30, 1940,  in Plainview, Texas. Clarice was a member of First Baptist Church in Hart where she had served as  VBS Director, Sunday school teacher and Hospitality Director. When moving to Lubbock, she became a member of Life Pointe Baptist Church in Lubbock.

She had been a  member of Beta Sigma Phi, Chi Psi and the Hart Golden Group, where she had served as president. She received the “Melvin Jones Award” from the Hart Lions Club and was Past President of the Hart Golden Group. She enjoyed sewing and cooking—she would rather cook for 50 people than two.
Clarice is survived by one son, Mike Reed of Pampa; two daughters, Nancy Reed Walker of Flower Mound, Texas,  and Gayle Johnson and husband Larry of Lubbock;  a sister, Charlene Ayers;  five  grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Glyn Reed;  a daughter, Karen Kay Reed;  and three brothers, Kenneth Davis, Clifton Davis and Paul Allison.

Pallbearers at her funeral were Bill Sanders, George Ed Bennett, Jimmy Ray Davis, Scott Rice, W.T. King and Albert Key.  Honorary pallbearers were Sue Bennett, Marylyn Higgins, Tommie Davis, Sarah Hart, Edna Kittrell,  Greta Davis, June Davis and Joy Barham.
