Hart won’t be represented at the cross country meet this year, but Coach Ruby Romero says she is excited to see what next year holds for the program since there will be a strong incoming freshman group that has been running great this year.
At the regional meet on October 23 in Lubbock, Esperanza Salazar, senior Ladyhorn runner, came in 18th as an individual, running her best time of 13:51. Candyce Neudorf, another senior, also ran her fastest time of 14:20. The team placed seventh overall.
Dillon Smothermon led the Longhorns with a time of 19:09, two minutes faster than any time he posted all season. Alejandro Diaz posted a 19:30 time.
The girls will lose four seniors, but four varsity members will return next year. Only one boy is a senior, and six members will return next year.
Romero said, “My team was young this year, and this was a great experience for them, since the team was comprised mostly of freshmen and sophomores.” {/private]
