Donna Lindley Is FUMC Pastor

Donna Lindley is the new pastor for Hart¹s First United Methodist Church.

She has a two-point charge:  Hart and Kress. Donna became pastor in June

after Wilbur Ormond and his wife returned to their home in North Carolina.

Sunday morning worship at Hart begins at 9 a.m. Donna then goes to Kress for

the worship service at 11 a.m.  Members of the Kress congregation also have

a Wednesday evening prayer group. Donna comes to Hart on Wednesdays to visit

members and get acquainted with the community. She also is a member of the

Hart Lions Club and attends its meetings.

Donna lives in Kress with her husband Leon. They have called Kress home for

six years. Leon works for Santa Fe Railroad and ferries engineers and

conductors to work, driving them from and to locations where trains are so

they will be in compliance with safety guidelines regarding hours worked.

Donna grew up in Lubbock and graduated from her parents¹ alma mater, Lubbock

High School. She says her parents were both Lubbock High cheerleaders. She

attended Texas Tech University.

To experience the big city. Donna lived for a while in Dallas, where she

worked at a mall. Then it was back to Lubbock, when she met her  future

husband.

The couple has two daughters, Tricia of Santa Monica, California, and Amy of

San Antonio. Tricia is in seminary in California and is the children¹s and

youth  pastor at First United Methodist Church in Santa Monica; she isn¹t

married.  Amy is a tutor, and her husband is a high school physics teacher.

Donna recalls that from her early 30s, her pastor encouraged her to go into

the ministry. She worked at St. John¹s Methodist Church in Lubbock, where

her family were members‹she did every job in the church at one time. After

an acccident, Donna¹s maternal grandmother lived with her, and with her own

family, she was very busy.

In 2010, the Methodist district supterintendent for this area told Donna,

³You would be a great preacher.² So, she took the advice and began two

years¹ worth of seminary study in the summer, while pastoring a church. Her

first church was Agape United Methodist Church in Lubbock. She has another

year of seminary.

She enjoys reading, writing and traveling. Donna is Kress¹ first female pastor  out of 52 previous male pastors. However, she is Hart¹s third Methodist pastor. Lillith Ardhuermuly was the

first female pastor and later, Quita Jones.
