         Doyle Davis

Doyle Davis, 84, of Hart, Texas passed away on Sunday, April 19, 2015, in Hart. His funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015,  at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Faucett, pastor,  officiating. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family visitation was held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015,  from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Music was provided by Neoma Williams, pianist, and Pat Smith, organise. Weldon Davis, soloist, sang “How Great Thou Art.”

Doyle was born on December 29, 1930,  in Hart, Texas,  to T.R.  and Cora Philips Davis. He grew up in Hart and graduated from Hart High School in 1949. On March 4, 1950,  Doyle married June Rice in Clovis, New Mexico. Doyle farmed and owned Davis Aerial.

 

He was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Hart. He enjoyed collecting antique cars and tractors and was a member of West Texas Car Club. Doyle was an avid fan of the Lady Raiders. He loved spending time with his family and playing with his grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Lynn Clay, Chad Myrick, Brian Nelson, Jerry Crowley, Barry George and Brady Nelson. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Rice, Jimmy Clay, Cecil Ray Jones, Danny Rice, Lanny Tucker, W.T. King, Tom McLain and the Men’s Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, Hart.

Doyle is survived by his wife, June Davis of Hart;  daughter, Debbie Emery and husband Ted of Bentonville, Arkansas;  two sisters, Helen Sweatt of Odessa, Texas,  and Peggy Clay of Amistad, New Mexico;  three grandchildren, Coby Emery and wife Rhanda of Floydada, Texas, Clint Emery and wife Leslianne of Lubbock, Texas, and John Emery of Fairbanks, Alaska;  four  great-grandchildren, Drake Emery, Cole Emery, Slade Emery and Brackston Emery.

Doyle is preceded in death by his parents;  a son, Phil Davis;  and a brother, Bob Davis.
