Gwen Snitker, 81 of Hart, Texas passed away on June 17, 2017, in Dumas, Texas. Graveside service were at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Enochs Cemetery in Enochs, Texas, with Pastor Josh Faucett officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Gwen was born on November 1, 1935, in Morton, Texas, to Bert Larue Jennings and Artie Gertrude (Melton) Jennings. Gwen grew up in Morton and graduated from Morton High School. She married Curtis Snitker on February 14, 1955. Gwen was a member of First Baptist Church in Hart, Texas, since 1970 where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a GAs (Girls in Action) leader at First Baptist. She also was a member of the Zealot Club in Hart. Gwen loved reading, bird-watching, painting, baking and photography – loved all things relating to nature. But most of all, she will always be remembered as a Christian woman, who so very much loved the Lord.
Gwen is survived by two sons, Jody Snitker of Hart and Glen Snitker and wife Diane of Dimmitt; one daughter, Melissa Nolte and husband Franklin of Dumas; one sister, Lois Hogan and husband Ray of Burleson; six grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Snitker; two brothers, Melton Jennings and Curtis Wayne Jennings; and one sister, Bessie Jean Jennings.
