Mark Stroebel

Mark Stroebel, 56,  of Dumas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014.  A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2 o’ clock in the afternoon on Saturday, May 17, 2014,  in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Rev John Sanders, pastor at First United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating.  The family will be welcoming friends from 6-8 o’ clock in the evening on Friday at Morrison Memorial Chapel.  Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mark entered this life on January 7, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas, to Andrew William and Catherine (Dodd) Stroebel.  He was reared and educated in Olton, Texas,  and graduated from Olton High School in 1976.  Mark went on to attended Texas Tech University,  where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 and where he met his future bride, his love, Jo Adair.  They married on August 1, 1981,  in Pampa.  He later earned a Master’s in Educational Administration from West Texas State University in 1988 and a Mid-Management in 1991 and then a Superintendent Certificate from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.

Mark began his career as a teacher/coach at Hart High School in 1981, and then became the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal/Teacher from 1983 to 1988.  Beginning in 1988,  he became the Principal for Hart High School until 1992 when he came to Dumas as Dumas Junior High School Principal.  In 2005, he was named Assistant Superintendant, and in 2011, he became the new Superintendant for Dumas ISD.

Mark loved every aspect of being a family man and one of his favorite pastimes was trout fishing in Red River, New Mexico.  Mark held many titles in his life,  but some of the most important ones were being a loving husband, father, son, uncle and friend who genuinely cared for all.  Since moving to Dumas in 1992, Mark was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Dumas Noon Lions Club and served on several councils at his church, First United Methodist Church.  Mark will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by one sister, Julie Ann Stroebel.

Mark is survived by his wife: Jo of the home; one son: Brandon Stroebel and wife Kaysha of Canadian; two daughters: Andrea Broxson and husband Chance and Shae Stroebel,  all of Dumas; parents: Andrew William and Catherine Stroebel of Olton; brother: Vance Stroebel of Flower Mound, Texas,  and his children, Dillon Stroebel of Flower Mound and Aarika Stroebel of Lubbock; brother: Stan Stroebel and wife Misty of Dumas and their children, Kody and Kyle Stroebel both of Dumas; mother-in-law, Joan Adair of Pampa; one brother-in-law, Kerry Adair and wife Anita of Canyon and their children, Austin Adair of Houston, and Alex and Kori Adair,  both of Canyon.
