ROBERTO GONZALEZ
Funeral Mass for Deacon Roberto Gonzalez, 85 of Hart, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hart with Monsignor Waldo and Father Raj officiating. Burial will follow in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home of Plainview.
A rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday at the church. Mr. Gonzalez died Saturday, May 10, 2014. He was born on September 17, 1928, in Mexico to Lusiano and Luz Gonzalez. He married Beatrice Reyna on May 12, 1950, in Mission, Texas.
He lived in Hart for 61 years and was a Deacon at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hart for over 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gonzalez of Hart; one daughter, Yolanda Capelo and husband Dr. Mel Capelo of Pasadena; two sisters, Consuelo Fuentes of California and Alicia Pena of Mission, Texas; two grandchildren, Chelsea Capelo of Houston and Brandon Capelo of Friendswood, Texas. He is preceded in death by one son, Robert Anthony Gonzalez.
MARK STROEBEL
Mark Stroebel, 56, of Dumas, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 2 o’ clock in the afternoon on Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Rev John Sanders, pastor at First United Methodist Church of Dumas, officiating. The family will be welcoming friends from 6-8 o’ clock in the evening on Friday at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Mark entered this life on January 7, 1958, in Lubbock, Texas, to Andrew William and Catherine (Dodd) Stroebel. He was reared and educated in Olton, Texas, and graduated from Olton High School in 1976. Mark went on to attended Texas Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1982 and where he met his future bride, his love, Jo Adair. They married on August 1, 1981, in Pampa. He later earned a Master’s in Educational Administration from West Texas State University in 1988 and a Mid-Management in 1991 and then a Superintendent Certificate from Sul Ross State University in Alpine, Texas.
Mark began his career as a teacher/coach at Hart High School in 1981, and then became the Athletic Director/Assistant Principal/Teacher from 1983 to 1988. Beginning in 1988, he became the Principal for Hart High School until 1992 when he came to Dumas as Dumas Junior High School Principal. In 2005, he was named Assistant Superintendant, and in 2011, he became the new Superintendant for Dumas ISD.
Mark loved every aspect of being a family man and one of his favorite pastimes was trout fishing in Red River, New Mexico. Mark held many titles in his life, but some of the most important ones were being a loving husband, father, son, uncle and friend who genuinely cared for all. Since moving to Dumas in 1992, Mark was a member of Chamber of Commerce, Dumas Noon Lions Club and served on several councils at his church, First United Methodist Church. Mark will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
He is preceded in death by one sister, Julie Ann Stroebel.
Mark is survived by his wife: Jo of the home; one son: Brandon Stroebel and wife Kaysha of Canadian; two daughters: Andrea Broxson and husband Chance and Shae Stroebel, all of Dumas; parents: Andrew William and Catherine Stroebel of Olton; brother: Vance Stroebel of Flower Mound, Texas, and his children, Dillon Stroebel of Flower Mound and Aarika Stroebel of Lubbock; brother: Stan Stroebel and wife Misty of Dumas and their children, Kody and Kyle Stroebel both of Dumas; mother-in-law, Joan Adair of Pampa; one brother-in-law, Kerry Adair and wife Anita of Canyon and their children, Austin Adair of Houston, and Alex and Kori Adair, both of Canyon.

RICKY GENE BLACK, 59, of Hart, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home in Hart.
Services were held April 23, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Hart. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Ricky was born March 1, 1955 in Olton, Texas, to Charles Gene Black and Wanda June Wagner Black. His family lived in Olton in until 1960. From Olton, they moved to Seymour, Texas. In 1962, Ricky started school at Seymour Elementary School. His family moved from Seymour before the end of the school year and Ricky finished first grade in Plainview when his family moved to Halfway. In 1963, Ricky started his second grade school year in Plainview. His family then moved to Hart in 1963 where he completed second grade, and continued his education and graduated from Hart High School in 1973. After graduating high school, Ricky, attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Ricky was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hart.
Ricky enjoyed riding horses and team roping. In team roping events, he won numerous belt buckles, trophy saddles and a horse trailer. He married Dana Ann McLain Black on August 10, 1984, in Hart at the home of Let and Jometa McLain.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Ann Black of Hart; a son, Payton Sage Black of Canyon; one daughter, Jacy Shay Black of Amarillo, a brother, Donnie Lynn Black and wife Bernadine of River Road, Texas; nephews, Brady Black of Grapevine, TX, and Brodie Black of Lexington, KY, and a niece, Reyla Black of Canyon. Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wanda Black; grandparents, Christopher Columbus and Beulah Malone Black and Ernest Elmo and Mary Ruth Allen Wagner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleve and Shirley McLain; and a brother-in-law, Cary McLain.

Elsie Faye Black
August 19th, 1940 – February 16th, 2014
Elsie Faye Black, 73, of Hart passed from this world at 4:52 p.m. on February 16th, 2014, at the Lubbock Heart Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. Heaven just received another angel of the highest magnitude.
Her funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Hart with Rev. Kenny Lydick, interim pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Pallbearers were Coy Myrick, Cody Myrick, Sam White, Jerod Hon, Jake Reed and Josh Reed.
Playing the organ and piano at the funeral service were Pat Smith and Neoma Williams, respectively. Three songs on CDs were played: “Amazing Grace,” performed by Joan Baez and a choir; “Wind Beneath My Wings,” performed by Bette Midler; and Vince Gill’s performing “Go Up High On That Mountain.”
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jim Black of Hart; a son, Glen Black and wife Kylene of Hereford; a daughter, Janet Reed and husband Jim of Kearney, Missouri; six grandchildren, Heather White, Jake Reed, Corrie Hon, Johnna Reed, Joshua Reed and Erin Black; four great-grandchildren, Gracie White, Brant White, Madeline Reed and Jake Reed, Jr.; and a sister, Linda Griffith and husband Ronnie of Hereford.
Elsie led a very full and active life. She was a Secretary at Hart Jr.-Sr. High School for 27 years. During this time, she touched the lives of many people, and was so well thought of by everyone she came into contact with. This was represented in all of the honors that were bestowed upon her over the years.
She was a member of the Texas Educational Secretaries Association of Austin, a member of Area School Secretaries Association, Chapter Mom of the Hart Future Homemakers of America for seven years, and a member of the Longhorn and Lady Longhorns Booster clubs, supporting all of the sports teams, band, Future Farmers of America and the Student Council. She was a member and office- holder of Chi Psi and Xi Mu sororities of Beta Sigma Phi. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hart, Texas, and had been a Sunday school teacher, Cub Scout Mom and Girls Auxiliary mother.
Here greatest accomplishments were the way she touched the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She cannot be replaced on this earth, but Heaven now has one of the finest, most caring individuals that ever lived.

Margie Ray
Margie Ray, 89, of Hart passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 in Olton. Services were held on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Hart with Rev. Matt Baird of Richland HIlls, Texas, former pastor at Hart, officiating. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmtt. Pallbearers were Weldon Davis, Jimmy Ray Davis, Coy Myrick, J.D. Myrick, Brad Barnes and Albert Key.
Margie was born on April 28, 1924 in Archer County, Texas, to Frank Ellis and Martha Willis Ellis.
She had lived in the Castro County community for over 58 years. She was very instrumental in starting the Hart Senior Citizens organization, Hart Golden Group, and also contributed in writing the grant for the group to purchase a building for its home. She was active in the Golden Group.
She worked as the First Baptist Church secretary and also worked for then Farmers State Bank of Hart. Margie loved to paint, bakeries and cakes, garden and workin her flower beds. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Hart.
She is survived by one son, Clifford Ray and wife Debbie of Midland; three grandchildren, Sharlie Ray of Odessa, Lori Hollum and husband Carl of Granbury and Jessica Nolan and husband Stacey of Borger; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three sisters, Bonnie Sutton, Patsy Sutton and Bernice Gray.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials be made to the Hart Cemetery Association, PO Box 215, Hart, TX 79043.
