Ricky Black
Ricky Gene Black, 59, of Hart, Texas passed away on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at his home in Hart.
Services were held April 23, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Hart. Burial followed in Hart Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt.
Ricky was born March 1, 1955 in Olton, Texas, to Charles Gene Black and Wanda June Wagner Black. His family lived in Olton in until 1960. From Olton, they moved to Seymour, Texas. In 1962, Ricky started school at Seymour Elementary School. His family moved from Seymour before the end of the school year and Ricky finished first grade in Plainview when his family moved to Halfway. In 1963, Ricky started his second grade school year in Plainview. His family then moved to Hart in 1963 where he completed second grade, and continued his education and graduated from Hart High School in 1973. After graduating high school, Ricky, attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Ricky was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hart.
Ricky enjoyed riding horses and team roping. In team roping events, he won numerous belt buckles, trophy saddles and a horse trailer. He married Dana Ann McLain Black on August 10, 1984, in Hart at the home of Let and Jometa McLain.
He is survived by his wife, Dana Ann Black of Hart; one son, Payton Sage Black of Canyon; one daughter, Jacy Shay Black of Amarillo, a brother, Donnie Lynn Black and wife Bernadine of River Road, Texas; nephews, Brady Black of Grapevine, TX, and Brodie Black of Lexington, KY, and a niece, Reyla Black of Canyon.
Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Wanda Black; grandparents, Christopher Columbus and Beulah Malone Black and Ernest Elmo and Mary Ruth Allen Wagner; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cleve and Shirley McLain; and a brother-in-law, Cary McLain.
